Collectors Corner Rare Books

The Bryn Mawr-Wellesley Book Sale is renowned for treasures in the Collectors Corner rare book room. Don’t miss FIRST EDITIONS and unusual collectibles. Come browse just for the fun of it! Entrance is first come, first served.

EXCEPTIONAL BOOKS
Exceptional books sold last year included an original 1894 “Peacock” edition of Pride and Prejudice with an exquisite gilt cover design, a celebrated example of late Victorian pictorial covers. Also sold was an original 1704 edition in excellent condition of the Index Librorum Prohibitorum, or Index of Forbidden Books. This book lists volumes considered heretical at the time by the Catholic Church.

Buyers found plenty of art books, including a book on Maxfield Parrish and a Dictionary of Artist’s Models, which includes brief biographies of 200 artists’ models from the Renaissance to the present. Homeschoolers stocked up on books for learning, while travelers found small paperbacks to tuck into bags for upcoming trips.

Collectors Corner is open during regular sale hours, Wednesday to Friday. On Saturday it is open from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00, then closes for the year. Selected items will be discounted on Saturday.
